AMSA has always held a strong voice when it comes to advocating for rights regarding racial and ethnic justice. Beginning with our work during the civil rights movement in the 1950s and 1960s, we have continued to empower physicians-in-training to be advocates and activists to achieve equality and justice for all.
The AMSA Racial Justice Award in Medicine was created in 2019 to recognize those who have done outstanding work to improve disparities in healthcare on the basis of race or ethnicity.
Eligibility requirements
Any group of medical students or individual medical student who has achieved exemplary success in advocating for the inclusion and advancement of racial and/or social justice issues in medicine is eligible for this award.
